Stephen Charles Landscapes Limited is small firm with 38 years’ experience in Design, Landscaping and Garden Maintenance within Richmond upon Thames and the surrounding areas. Our clients range from housing developments to roadside borders and finely kept private gardens. We have an opportunity for you to join us. The role will be based in Richmond upon Thames and the surrounding areas.
We would prefer you were able to drive, but this is not essential.
You may be called upon to do planting for the landscaping works and to move plants before projects start.
Your Job:
Driving to site with your Team Leader (arriving on-site punctually for 8am, arriving at our base at 7.30am)
Grass cutting and hedge pruning
Weeding and bed maintenance
Weed control and shrub pruning
Litter picking and strimming
Planting as needed
Irrigation checks, commissioning and decommissioning of services
Wisteria pruning
Requirements:
Experienced with maintenance machinery (rotary mowers, strimmers, blowers and hedge cutters)
Plant knowledge
PPE awareness
Full clean UK driving licence (even if you do not want to drive daily)
Attention to detail
Spatial awareness
Able to work efficiently and use your initiative
Team worker as well as ability to self initiate
Ability to keep an eye on not only what you are doing, but also the positioning of your colleagues to ensure that you are kept safe at all times
Desirable:
Recognised qualifications in horticulture (NVQ/RHS etc.)
Confident using chainsaws (licence required or happy to work towards)
Spraying licence (PA1 + PA6) ESSENTIAL for at least one member of the team
Trailer/towing licence (rarely needed)
CRB/DBS check (if not, it will be done on acceptance)
Previous history within small firms, not just big commercial companies
Wage:
Gardener from £24,960 p.a.
Plus bonus for meeting targets, and completing jobs to specification and quality expected based on client feedback.
As part of your daily routine, you will also need to be tech smart, as we use a number of applications to time keep such as start and finish times and work schedules.
You must be punctual, arriving by 7.30am, and have a can-do and honest attitude. You will be expected to work until your day round has been completed, regardless if this is over scheduled hours. You will be paid overtime where you do need to work late. Quality is important to us, so you will be working with your Team Leader and the Maintenance Supervisor to plan future work and keep on top of each garden, as well as suggesting improvements.
