Human Resources - A Pleasure Or A Chore?

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

Working in HR can in some cases be hard – however, it can likewise be enormously fulfilling.

From Monday to Friday, I juggle an entire scope of turning plates, continually endeavouring to ensure one doesn't drop. While in the meantime, I do my best to help our organisation's greatest resource – our employees.

So I thought I’d share a little about my love for Human Resources and how I became responsible…

I’ve been employed by Stephen Charles Landscapes since April 2018; I came on board to keep up with Social Media platforms and office duties, later on becoming Office Manager.

The business has grown from strength to strength, and now with 14+ employees, we found we needed someone to manage many other tasks such as updating employment records, organising meetings, hiring staff, policies and procedures to name but a few.

Having never worked in this field previously, this gave me the opportunity to learn and grow in my career with the company; growth is so important in business to both the business and our employees.

In time, I’m hoping to train and become a fully qualified HR professional. Meanwhile, there are many websites and tools I can use to optimise my position and get the most out of the experience such as ACAS, bringing my knowledge and experience into the workplace to help and support others.

My favourite part of my job is working with people; I’m a real “people person” with realistic goals and like to go the extra mile if I can to meet a person’s needs so they can move forward in a healthy and positive way.

Someone said to me in my very early days, “Where you have people, you will have problems”, but my belief is, “Where you have problems, you are given the opportunity to discover solutions”. Solutions that work for everyone.

Keep an eye out and I’ll update you all on my ever-growing journey in Human Resources – have a great day!
