Irrigation Systems

We offer three types of irrigation system, all of which use the same delivery method - regulated emitter hoses for flower beds and planted areas, Micro-Line sprinklers or emitters for pots and containers, and pop-up sprinklers for the lawn areas.

With over 30 years’ experience of installing such systems, we have found that these methods provide the very best balance between robust reliability and efficient water application.

The only delivery system which is superior to this is the Hunter Eco-Mat which is just as robust but uses a fraction of the water and is the very best technology available today. As with cars, however, advanced technology comes with an additional investment; in the same way as Tesla is rather more expensive than a conventional car, so too is this state-of-the art irrigation system.

The irrigation systems we offer are:

Dependent Irrigation System

We supply and install a simple irrigation system which will use water directly from the mains supply at mains pressure. There would be a manifold attached to the existing outside tap with an operated water computer battery (this does not need a mains connection) attached to one outlet, and the hosepipe or tap attached to the other. The water computer is connected to a water distributor which can be located at any convenient location in the garden, which in turn connects to up to 6 separate irrigation lines to water planted areas, and pressure regulated drip lines and lawn sprinklers.

I am sure cheaper components could be sourced from the Internet; however, with the advantage of having installed many of these systems, we will only use those components of which we have experience and which we know will work. In addition, it’s about taking time and paying attention to detail when installing these systems - just putting the components together is seldom if ever enough to provide an efficient working system. Even with our level of expertise, we often have to make two or three return visits to achieve optimal working. This is why the invoicing for all irrigation systems is 25% deposit, 70% on completion and 5% after we are sure it is working properly.

Independent Irrigation System

We install a very reliable, fully functional independent irrigation system which will ensure all the borders, planting areas, pots and lawns receive the correct amount of water. This will not only make sure the plants get the right amount of water to remain healthy, but will also reduce the total volume of water required to keep plants healthy by delivering just the right amount of water for the requirement of each plant. Sensors will detect the prevailing weather conditions and if necessary, prevent further irrigation. So, for example, the irrigation will not operate when it is raining and the irrigation times will automatically increase or reduce according to the time of year. This system uses a mains water controller with battery back-up should the power fail. The computer is fully programmable and connects to 4, 8, 12, 16 or more solenoids, each of which controls the water flow to a separate line giving total flexibility in the volume of water delivered to plants. The computer can be programmed to automatically adjust for differing water requirements throughout the year. A rain sensor will automatically prevent watering when it is raining. The system is independent of the mains pressure and has its own tank, which is connected to the mains supply, and pump to provide a constant and consistent pressure of water for the irrigation system.

Independent Irrigation System With Full Integration

We install a very reliable, fully functional independent irrigation system with enhanced sensor capabilities. This system does everything the normal independent irrigation does and so much more. Sensors will detect when the water content reaches the required level and prevent further irrigation. So, for example, the irrigation will not operate when it is raining and the irrigation times will automatically reduce on damp, cloudy days. In addition, as this irrigation system is Internet-enabled, it allows us to remotely monitor your irrigation system for you, so we can advise you of any leaks or other malfunctions of your system as soon as they occur, saving you both time and the expense of replacing dead plants or grass as well as the wasted water. In addition, an app is available to allow you to monitor your irrigation system and make alterations from wherever you happen to be in the world. It’s like having an insurance policy for your garden, keeping your investment in your garden as alive and secure as it is possible to do.

Which irrigation system you use will depend upon how much risk you are prepared to take with your investment in your garden. You should bear in mind that the replacement cost will be 50% greater than the original planting cost each year. So:

After 3 years, replacing your garden plants, assuming (to make the math easy) that the original planting cost is £10,000.00, the replacement cost would be £10,000.00 + £5,000.00 = £15,0000.

After 4 years, your garden plants which were worth £15,000.00 will have grown again. Then the replacement cost would be £15,000.00 + £7,500.00 = £22,500.00.

After 5 years, your garden plants which were worth £22,500.00 will have grown again. Then the replacement cost would be £22,500.00 + £11,250 = £33,750.00.

Our price includes one year’s on-site servicing, maintenance, parts and labour. This also includes any additional parts, i.e. sprinklers, drippers etc. which may be required after the initial installation has been made. All installations except possibly some electrics are carried out in-house by ourselves.
